About The Position

The volunteer supports programs at the St. George Youth Center in Isla Vista, California. Volunteers attend required trainings and meetings, arrive on time for shifts, and follow YMCA rules, policies, and procedures. They help ensure children arrive and depart safely, maintain a clean program area, report incidents to the Program Director, and share relevant updates with staff, members, and parents. If unable to attend a shift, volunteers should call within 24 hours—or as soon as they learn of the cancellation—and find a substitute from the approved list when possible.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance if over 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Attend all necessary trainings and meetings.
• Report to shifts on time.
• Call within 24 hours, or as soon as aware of a cancellation, and find a substitute from the approved list when possible.
• Supervise the safe arrival and departure of children.
• Clean up the area before departure.
• Report incidents to the Program Director.
• Learn and adhere to YMCA rules, policies, and procedures.
• Update staff, members, and parents about program, event, or child processes as needed.
