About The Position

LifeWise Academy is seeking volunteers to assist children in LifeWise classes. LifeWise Academy is a Bible-based character education program that exists to reach public school students with the gospel during school hours. Volunteers support teachers and students by modeling positive and godly behavior, participating in lessons and activities, building relationships with students, and helping maintain an appropriate classroom environment. Volunteers may also assist students with special needs, escort students to the restroom, and chaperone children to and from LifeWise classes as needed.

Requirements

• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

• Model positive behavior and godly character, and set an example for classroom behavior.
• Actively listen during Bible lessons and participate in classroom activities.
• Develop relationships with students by learning their names, getting to know them, and talking with them during activities.
• Assist with classroom management as needed or directed, including supporting students who behave inappropriately and reminding them of desired behavior.
• Help with classroom activities by distributing supplies such as pencils, pens, crayons, Bibles, and papers, and helping lead class games.
• Sit with and provide extra help to students with special needs.
• Escort students to the restroom and stand outside while the student is inside.
• Chaperone children to and from their LifeWise classes as needed.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
