About The Position

LifeWise Academy seeks volunteers to assist children in its LifeWise classes. LifeWise Academy is a Bible-based character education program that reaches public school students with the gospel during school hours. Volunteers model positive and godly behavior, participate in Bible lessons and classroom activities, build relationships with students, support classroom management, assist with activities and students with special needs, and chaperone students as needed.

Requirements

• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

• Model positive behavior and godly character, and set an example for classroom behavior.
• Actively listen during Bible lessons and participate in classroom activities.
• Develop relationships with students, learn their names, and get to know them by chatting during activities.
• Assist with classroom management as needed or directed, including supporting teachers with students who behave inappropriately, reminding students of desired behavior, sitting or standing beside them, and relocating them if inappropriate behavior continues.
• Help with classroom activities, including distributing pencils, pens, crayons, Bibles, and papers, and leading class games.
• Sit with and provide extra help to students with special needs.
• Escort students to the restroom and stand outside while they are inside.
• Chaperone children to and from LifeWise classes as needed.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
