About The Position

Responsible for building volunteer capacity through the planning, coordination and implementation of MADD’s Driven to Save Lives volunteer program at the State and Local level. Work with staff and volunteers, providing direction and coordination for all volunteer functions. Develop community relationships to promote volunteer opportunities within MADD. While this is a remote, work from home position, the selected candidate must reside in the state of Michigan. The salary for this position is $45,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Non-profit Management or related degree with one to two years coordinating volunteers and events, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some travel and flexible hours necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and execute in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar and command of the English language.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to work on a timetable, meet deadlines, follow instructions and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level.
  • Must have exceptional internal and external customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook and familiarity with entering data into on-line systems.
  • Basic record keeping and math skills.
  • Ability to maintain social, ethical and organizational standards in job-related activities, at work and in the community.
  • Ability to maintain workplace confidentiality and take ownership/accountability for own actions and aspects of the job.
  • Demonstrated commitment, passion and compassion for the mission of MADD.
  • Must reside in the state of Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mission specific needs assessments in support of various operational areas including victim services, programs, and fundraising events.
  • Develop strategies for growing the volunteer base in conjunction with State, Affiliate, and Chapter goals.
  • Foster community support for volunteer opportunities and identify outreach resources for recruitment.
  • Recruit, screen, interview, select, and match volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills and experience.
  • Complete background checks per MADD policies.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct new volunteer orientation and training, ensuring understanding of MADD’s policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate volunteer attendance at MADD trainings, educational programs, and events.
  • Work with volunteers to create volunteer-led events and mission-related programs and services.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff working with volunteers.
  • Develop and facilitate effective working relationships between staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document individual volunteer performance.
  • Resolve conflicts and address volunteer and staff concerns.
  • Maintain volunteer records and schedules, and collect, input, and report data on volunteer activities and contributions.
  • Monitor the program, evaluate impact, and recommend revisions.
  • Engage volunteers to meet program goals and objectives in collaboration with national and/or local staff/volunteer leaders.
  • Plan and implement volunteer recognition programs.
  • Conduct volunteer feedback meetings.
  • Nurture volunteers to improve their connection to the organization, increasing satisfaction and commitment.
  • Ensure consistent and open communication between volunteers and staff.
  • Keep supervisor/local management informed of all activities involving the volunteer program.
