About The Position
BAYADA Hospice is seeking unpaid Hospice Volunteers in Summerville, South Carolina, for MUSC Health Hospice at Home by BAYADA. The office is in Charleston, South Carolina, and serves clients throughout Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties. The Hospice Volunteer is a member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) and supports clients, families, and caregivers with home management, emotional support, and other supportive tasks related to terminal illness and end of life. Volunteer opportunities may include companionship, caregiver relief, specialty support, transportation escort, office assistance, memorial service planning, and bereavement support. Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
- Complete a criminal background check as required by state requirements.
- Meet applicable state requirements for volunteers.
- Meet BAYADA requirements and state regulations for the discipline when providing professional services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with home management tasks.
- Provide companionship and friendship to clients.
- Provide caregiver relief.
- Offer specialty support such as veteran support, Reiki, massage, pet therapy, crafts, or end-of-life doula services, where applicable.
- Share special talents, such as music or art.
- Provide transportation escort assistance as needed.
- Assist with clerical work and other office tasks.
- Help plan memorial services.
- Provide bereavement support to loved ones.
