The full-time Volunteer Engagement Specialist works alongside individual and group volunteers and other Volunteer Department staff at the Regional Food Bank, where each year more than 20,000 people donate their time. This is a hands-on position that involves working with volunteers to sort and repack food and non-food products in the warehouse. Warehouse experience is helpful but not required. The successful candidate is someone who is dependable and has a strong work ethic, energetic, good with people, and a team player. They should be able to communicate various instructions coherently and provide an educational component to volunteers (training on topic provided). They will become savvy in the use of CERVIS, a volunteer scheduling software program (training provided), and be able to correspond with and schedule high volumes of volunteers on a daily basis. They must be able to work in a physically active, fast-paced environment, able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and able to work in a warehouse where temperatures fluctuate. They will be responsible for opening and closing the building and available weekdays, weeknights and one weekend day on a prearranged schedule. They must be able to receive a forklift operator's license with training provided by the Food Bank and provide their own steel-toe shoes (annual compensation is provided). They should be committed to the cause of hunger relief and serious about working hard for a good cause.
