About The Position

This project seeks to better understand the ecological implications of habitat-friendly solar energy developments. Working with a team of scientists, the intern will visit photovoltaic (PV) solar sites in Minnesota approximately four (4) times over the summer and conduct observational surveys for insect pollinators along predetermined 100’ long transects. In addition, the intern will assist scientists with bioacoustic monitoring to understand bird and bat communities on the solar sites.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.
  • Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months.
  • Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct observational surveys for insect pollinators along predetermined 100’ long transects at PV solar sites in Minnesota.
  • Assist scientists with bioacoustic monitoring to understand bird and bat communities on the solar sites.
