About The Position

The Theatre and Dance Department at Bucknell University seeks a five-month sabbatical replacement of Visiting Assistant Professor in Costume Design for the spring semester of the 2026-27 academic year. This role is within an undergraduate program with a long history of strong production values. The department is located in Coleman Hall and the position is full-time and exempt.

Requirements

  • MFA in Costume Design (or a terminal degree equivalent with costume design experience)
  • Prior teaching experience at a college level

Nice To Haves

  • Dance costume design experience

Responsibilities

  • Designing costumes for one dance concert (which consists of seven dances of different styles from guest choreographers, faculty choreographers and student choreographers)
  • Coordinating costumes for one theatre showcase production with assistance from the costume studio
  • Collaborating with costume staff (studio manager and assistant costumer)
  • Teaching Costume Design
  • Teaching a Special Topics course (in candidate’s area of specialization)
