About The Position

This is a full-time assistant professor of practice (PoP) position in the Theater Arts program within the School of Integrated Liberal Arts (SILA), with teaching and service responsibilities. In addition, this role serves as the Producer for Theater at Plymouth State University (known in the discipline as the director of theater).

Requirements

  • MFA
  • Experience teaching Acting, Directing, Script Analysis, Theatre History, Voice & Diction
  • Experience teaching introductory “First Year Seminar” style classes from an interdisciplinary perspective
  • Experience teaching interdisciplinary capstone courses.
  • Experience performing, directing, and producing plays.
  • Excellence in teaching.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in theater education outreach, such as experience as an education director in theatre organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach theater arts courses in areas of expertise and as needed by the Theater Arts program
  • Teach general education courses
  • Advise Theater Arts and other performing arts students
  • Lead the theater program (in collaboration with the SILA leadership) curricular and staffing needs (recruiting, mentoring, and supporting part time instructors), as well as recruitment and retention initiatives for theater students.
  • Serve as the Director of Theater by taking on the role of Producer for Theater at Plymouth State University in collaboration with the Silver Center for the Arts and the SILA leadership.
  • Plan, staff, and coordinate the theater production season with all associated responsibilities, including scheduling and timelines, staffing needs and capacity, budget management, etc.
  • General service to the University, School, Program, Community, and Profession
