About The Position

Shenandoah Conservatory is accepting applications for Assistant Professor - Theatre/Voice. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Theatre or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching theatre and voice at the university level.
  • Expertise in stage combat, directing, playwriting, period styles, and movement for actors and singers is preferred.
  • Experience directing both theatre and opera.
  • Abilities in technical theatre are desired.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 9-12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in theatre and voice with a preferred area of expertise in stage combat, directing, playwriting, period styles, and movement for actors and singers.
  • Directing responsibilities will include both theatre and opera.
  • Abilities in technical theatre are also desired.
  • Develop and update course curricula, including syllabi, lectures, and assignments.
  • Advise and mentor students on academic and career paths.
  • Engage in scholarly or creative activities, which may include research, publications, presentations, or artistic productions.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service, such as committee work, program development, and student recruitment.
