Position Summary Guilford College’s Department of Music invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Musicology/Ethnomusicology, with a possibility of renewal. We seek candidates committed to the liberal arts model, inclusive pedagogy, and student-centered teaching.
Requirements
- MA or MM in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or related field required
- Experience teaching undergraduates
- Engaging diverse student populations
- Ongoing scholarly or creative activity is valued
Nice To Haves
- PhD, DMA or ABD preferred
- Instrumental or ensemble expertise is a plus
Responsibilities
- Teach six in-person courses (three per semester) for music majors and non-majors, including topics such as global music cultures, Black Atlantic musical traditions, Latin American music, U.S. Sound Cultures, Western music history, and methods courses.
