About The Position

The University of Denver's Daniels College of Business is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Accountancy to join the School of Accountancy. The School of Accountancy offers Bachelor of Accounting, Master of Accountancy, and a STEM-designated Master of Science in Accounting, Technology and Analytics. The vision of the School of Accountancy is to be the School of choice for superior students seeking to obtain the accounting knowledge, ethical grounding, and professional, interpersonal and intercultural skills necessary to succeed as leaders in their chosen endeavors. The Visiting Assistant Professor will have responsibility for research, teaching, and service, with a preference for candidates interested in teaching financial accounting, but open to other areas of expertise. The position involves teaching six courses during the academic year, utilizing traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods, and potentially including day, night, and weekend classes. The role also requires demonstrating the ability to conduct and publish high-quality research and participate in the academic life of the School and College.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in accounting or closely related field from an AACSB accredited school. ABD will be considered.
  • Doctoral degree must be completed no later than March 31 of the first year of employment at Daniels.
  • Demonstrated potential for strong performance in teaching, research, and service.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

Nice To Haves

  • Publications in Financial Times Top 50 journals, those ranked A by the Australian Business Deans Council, and those ranked 4 or higher in the Association of Business Schools Academic Journal Guide.
  • CA, CPA, CMA or other professional certification in accounting or a related area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging inclusive populations and students with different learning styles.
  • Professional experience in the accounting field.

Responsibilities

  • Teach six courses during the academic year, which may include fall, winter, and/or spring quarters.
  • Conduct and publish high-quality research.
  • Participate in the academic life of the School of Accountancy and the Daniels College of Business.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Participate in assurance of learning.
  • Engage in curriculum development.
  • Participate in scholarly activities such as research symposia.
  • Engage with students.
