About The Position

The Department of Business Ethics and Legal Studies at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver invites applications for two Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors for the 2026-2027 academic year. These positions will focus on business law, business ethics, and/or sustainable business. The Daniels College of Business is a highly-ranked institution committed to preparing students for a dynamic world through excellence and innovation. The Department of Business Ethics and Legal Studies (BELS) is an interdisciplinary unit focused on research, teaching, thought leadership, and community engagement in business ethics, business law, sustainable business, non-market risk, and public policy. BELS faculty contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs, including a minor in Business Ethics and Legal Studies and a joint graduate certificate. The department supports the college's mission to benefit the public good and the University's 4D initiatives, driving societal impact through scholarship, education, and engagement activities like the Ethics Boot Camp and Sustainable Business Symposium.

Requirements

  • For the business law position: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • For the sustainable business position: A Master's degree or equivalent in sustainability and/or ethics or a closely related field (including environmental science or planning, CSR/ESG, ethics, or engineering), OR a relevant Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years or more of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated potential for strong performance in teaching and service.
  • Strong desire to engage with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders on matters related to areas of expertise.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching interests in core areas of business law, business ethics, sustainable business and/or public policy in these areas.
  • Particular interest in white collar and corporate crime; employment law; sustainable business areas including carbon footprint accounting; circular economy; ESG accounting and reporting; corporate social responsibility; the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the practice of law, ethics and compliance, sustainable business, and/or CSR/ESG in a law firm, or corporate, non-profit, or governmental setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging inclusive populations and students with different learning styles.
  • Experience teaching at an AACSB accredited institution with excellent teaching evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching eight courses throughout the academic year (fall, winter, and/or spring quarters).
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses using traditional, hybrid, and/or online delivery methods.
  • Participating in the academic life of the Department and College, including faculty meetings and assurance of learning and curriculum development.
  • Engaging with undergraduate and graduate students, including holding regular office hours and assisting students in the BELS minor program.
  • Engaging with industry and community stakeholders to ensure coursework remains market relevant and foster positive societal impact.
  • External engagement with industry and practitioners.
