About The Position

The Visiting Assistant Professor in Philosophy will teach 24 credit hours per academic year, including preparing class and evaluation materials, delivering lectures, grading, and being available for student questions. The position requires the ability to teach Introduction to Philosophy and Introductory Ethics. A commitment to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential, as is the ability to work with broadly diverse communities. The role also involves maintaining knowledge of digital accessibility standards (ADA, Section 508) and producing accessible digital materials. Other duties as assigned are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • PhD in Philosophy expected within 1 year.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Experience teaching Introduction to Philosophy and/or Ethics.

  • Experience teaching underrepresented populations.
  • Area of specialization or competence in metaphysics, philosophy of mind, or indigenous philosophy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks within strict timelines.
