About The Position

The Visiting Assistant Professor is under the administrative supervision of the Department Head in Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) and will serve as a professional faculty member. Specific activities include teaching, research, service and advising students in the Industrial Engineering program. Salary Grade : UC For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department. Department Profile: The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is one of the eight academic departments in the Bagley College of Engineering. The Department offers an ABET-accredited bachelor's program in Industrial Engineering as well as master's and doctoral degrees. Industrial Engineering offers degree programs via three modes of delivery: on the Starkville Campus, through the Online Campus and through the Engineering on the Coast Campus, located in Gautier, MS (www.bagley.msstate.edu/coast). Current department enrollment across the three locations is 296 undergraduate students, 63 master's students, and 84 doctoral students. The department is currently supported by ten tenured/tenure-track faculty, three teaching-track faculty, one instructor, and four staff. The department's website is www.ise.msstate.edu. Requirements

  • PhD in Industrial & Systems Engineering or closely related field is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Industrial Engineering.
  • Supervise research of graduate students.
  • Write and submit proposals to prospective sponsors.
  • Engage in scholarly activities resulting in journal and conference papers.
  • Participate in cross-functional research initiatives that require coordination and collaboration among research groups, departments and research centers.
  • Establish and maintain knowledge of current sources for research support.
  • Stay informed of topic areas for which support is available.
  • Serve as an active member of the technical community and participate in the activities of professional and/or technical societies.
  • Maintain contact and rapport with funding agencies and secure funding for proposed research
