About The Position

The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering at Florida Polytechnic University is seeking applicants for the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Visiting Assistant Professor candidates should possess a commitment to teaching chemistry that supports undergraduates primarily in introductory chemistry courses. Florida Polytechnic University will offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences beginning in fall 2026. This position will primarily focus on Chemistry 1 lectures and laboratory instruction. As such, applicants must demonstrate commitment to teaching within the freshman and sophomore year. Candidates are expected to assist in the broader educational mission of the university. The appointment is projected to begin on August 10, 2026. This appointment is nine (9) months paid over 12 months with the potential for reappointment.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, where the degree must be complete before a candidate’s starting date.
  • Proof of the legal right to work in the United States.

  • Unofficial copy of your Ph.D transcripts.
  • Transcripts issued outside of the United States require an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA.
  • Background check, which may include a level II screening as required by the Florida Statute §435.04.
