The Department of History at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Carnegie classified R2 institution in the mainstream of American Catholic higher education, seeks outstanding applicants for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor who value its Mission and share its commitment to inclusive excellence and the building of a just society. LMU is a Hispanic‑Serving Institution (HSI), Black‑Serving Institution (BSI), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander‑Serving Institution (AANAPISI), animating servingness for all persons, regardless of identity or beliefs, through its mission and Jesuit, Marymount educational traditions. The Department seeks a dedicated teacher-scholar with evidence of or the potential for teaching excellence. The position has a six-course teaching load for the academic year (3-3). Successful candidates will teach Lower-Division courses in colonial and modern Latin American and modern world history, as well as Upper-Division courses in their field of expertise. This is a non-tenure track faculty appointment for the academic year of August 2026-May 2027. Continuation beyond the initial term, if any, will be determined based on institutional needs and applicable review processes.
