About The Position

Edmentum is seeking a part-time virtual teacher certified to teach Earth & Space Science. The position requires a valid California teaching credential endorsed in Science: Geosciences, and applicants must be California residents. The teacher provides an educational atmosphere where learners can fulfill their potential and implements an instructional program that supports academic success in accordance with district and state policies and laws. The role delivers specified course content in an online, virtual environment.

This is a seasonal, part-time position. Hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate based on student enrollments and business needs. The role is exempt and does not qualify for overtime compensation. No equipment is provided. As a variable part-time employee, the teacher is not eligible for health benefits upon hire.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
• Valid California teaching credential endorsed in Science: Geosciences.
• Must be a California resident.
• Experience teaching high school and adult learners.
• Comfort using technology for lesson delivery.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, classroom teachers, and other educators.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Introduce students to their coursework and communicate course and school requirements.
• Use asynchronous tools to supplement course content.
• Track student progress and help students stay on pace to complete class by the end date.
• Be available to conference with parents of struggling students by phone or online.
• Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner.
• Contribute to and complete student report cards.
• Communicate with teachers, administrators, and parents as needed.
• Respond to student messages and discussions in a timely manner within school guidelines.
