About The Position

Ivy Tech Community College seeks adjunct instructors for Earth Science (SCIN 100) and Science of Energy Generation and Utilization (SCIN 101) at its Indianapolis and/or Plainfield locations. Adjunct faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi. The role requires fostering an inclusive environment where students and employees from varied backgrounds feel respected and valued. Requirements

• Earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• At least 18 graduate semester hours in the physical sciences, such as Earth science or geology.
• Ability to promote an environment where people from varied backgrounds feel respected and valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement or alter lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage proactively and regularly with students in meaningful, productive ways that support learning and a positive Ivy Tech experience.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies focused on engaging students in learning.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment in which people from the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees feel respected and valued.
• Conduct responsibilities in accordance with FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
