The University of New Haven’s Department of Biology and Environmental Science invites applications for adjunct professors to teach courses during the Spring 2027 semester, with the possibility of teaching in future semesters. Available courses span biology, environmental science, geoscience, and marine affairs, and may include lectures, laboratories, or both. Courses require an on-campus component; familiarity with online teaching is a plus. Adjunct instructors are hired locally or regionally to teach specific courses in which they have expertise. They normally teach no more than half of a full-time teaching load, receive a letter of appointment for each semester they teach, and are paid per course. No continuing employment is implied. Compensation for new adjunct faculty begins at $1,200 per credit hour and may increase based on the highest degree earned and prior teaching experience. Applicants must have valid work authorization when applying. The University does not provide immigration sponsorship or work authorization assistance and cannot consider candidates with STEP OPT authorization. Applications are considered immediately and continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. Applicants must submit a brief cover letter explaining their teaching experience and philosophy, a CV, and names and contact information for three references. Finalists may be asked to provide examples of teaching excellence, including syllabi and student evaluations.
