About The Position

Iteris is looking for a Vice President that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying innovative transportation planning, engineering and technology solutions to solve complex issues in transportation. You will work with all levels of public agency and private clients to make mobility safe, efficient and sustainable for everyone. Responsibilities will include project delivery, business development, and staff mentorship principally within our transportation planning practice as well as working with our engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) teams to support regional growth objectives. The successful candidate will have working experience and knowledge of the transportation industry at the state, regional, and local levels within California.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) required, field of study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
At least fifteen (15) years as a demonstrated expert in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industries
At least ten (10) years’ experience in a leadership role.
At least ten (10) years' experience in business development within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations industry
At least ten (10) years’ experience working with and capturing projects with state, regional and/or local public transportation agencies in California
Successful track record of public sector client service
Extensive experience working with Major public sector clients as a consultant
Strong leadership and communications skills to interact with internal staff and externally with clients and regulatory agencies
Understanding of state, regional, or local transportation industry in general with a strategic market understanding of trends affecting the future of transportation.

Nice To Haves

Professional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desired
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is preferred
Knowledge and experience related to transportation engineering, ITS, and emerging technology is preferred

Responsibilities

Lead and manage California strategy development and execution to meet business objectives within the planning discipline
Define client needs and develop a plan and proposal to address business capture and regional growth
Cultivate strategic thinking to grow business and increase client retention rates
Conduct business development activities including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiations within the planning discipline but secondarily in any combination of the following: traffic engineering, transportation engineering, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, system integration, connected and automated vehicle, and tolling
Outreach/communicate Iteris consultant services capabilities through direct client engagement, conference presentations, professional society/organization/chapter involvement and interaction
Lead technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projects
Serve as a technical subject matter expert within the transportation and ITS planning discipline with supporting experience in the traffic/transportation engineering, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, or system integration disciplines
Serve as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge for large multi-disciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projects
Manage and mentor a minimum of 2-8 staff
Provide leadership to staff engineers, planners and associated technical staff to support their growth and development
Active in professional organizations at various levels (local, State, and/or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations and non-technical (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) developments in traffic and transportation techniques and practices
Local and Statewide travel as required
