About The Position

We are looking for a proactive employee to use their own experience and judgment to carry out the mission of DD/ABI Community Services, including: Community Outreach (including Comm Hab, Outreach, and TRAID), Day Habilitation, and Self-Direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in human services field, plus three years’ of experience working with people with disabilities, required.
  • Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience, required.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and transportation necessary to meet program needs.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of OPWDD and Children’s HCBS services and regulations, preferred.
  • Public speaking experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight in order to coordinate program services, following relevant state guidelines and best practices for optimal service delivery
  • Develop a system to communicate with participants and families/advocates in order to monitor service satisfaction and ensure services are implemented as planned
  • In conjunction with the COO and Directors, develop and implement a quality assurance program in order to monitor staff service provision
  • In conjunction with Directors and the Behavioral Team; develop, and monitor the implementation of, program policies and procedures to ensure that service provision, safety and behavioral intervention procedures, etc. align with best practices
  • Regularly review the status of participant safety, address any issues, as needed
  • Responsible for the supervision of Directors and other assigned staff
  • Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring, for the department, including clinical and administrative staff
  • Assist in the development, and ensure the implementation, of an orientation and ongoing training program for the department
  • Provide ongoing direction, support, and regular one on one supervision to staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations of staff-initial, 6 month, and annual; document performance concerns and follow-up with disciplinary action, if necessary
  • Ensure assigned management staff follow agency supervision and evaluation procedures
  • Monitor and approve staff timecards through ADP, and monitor and approve staff mileage per Agency policy
  • Ensure all department documentation is completed and maintained per Agency policy
  • Complete required reports, as directed
  • Ensure incident recommendations are completed in a timely manner, as needed
  • Ensure satisfaction surveys are completed, analyze, and report results
  • Ensure that Plans of Corrective Action (POCA) are completed in a timely manner and implemented, as written
  • Understand departmental budget and assist in its development
  • Oversee and monitor all budgets, financial reports, and expenses for Community Outreach (including Comm Hab, Outreach, and TRAID), Day Habilitation, and Self-Direction
  • Understand Medicaid and MCO (Children’s HCBS) billing regulations and the rate setting system; work with Finance to modify practices and spending in order to maximize rates/billing
  • Review monthly financial printouts and work with Directors, Finance, and the COO, to modify budget and/or expenses, as needed
  • Establish and maintain a rapport with OPWDD, CNY Developmental Disabilities Regional Office (DDRO), MCOs, Children’s Health Homes, and other service providers; participate in external audits (OPWDD) and exit conferences
  • Serve on various community committees throughout the region representing DD/ABI Community Services and the Agency, as directed
  • Encourage linkages between assigned programs, other Agency services, and community service providers
  • Participate in opportunities to learn more about HCS options
  • Develop new HCS services to meet the needs of individuals requesting, or, receiving services
  • Provide person-centered, quality, services
  • Observe confidentiality and safeguards regarding all participant related information
  • Follow Agency standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with Facilities and landlords to ensure that all IRA properties meet OPWDD certification regulations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as with company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
