About The Position

The ICU/Patient Care Veterinary Technician provides nursing care and technical support to surgical and hospitalized patients at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center’s Grapevine location. The technician works closely with surgeons and the specialty team to monitor patients, manage pain, and provide compassionate care during recovery and hospitalization. DVSC provides advanced surgical care for dogs and cats, including neurologic, orthopedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive procedures.

Requirements

Be a Licensed Veterinary Technician or an experienced Veterinary Technician.
Provide excellent client service and patient care.
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and uplifting hospital culture.
Take initiative and help complete the hospital’s daily duties.
Adapt to individual patient needs and provide individualized nursing care.
Demonstrate safe patient restraint skills.
Have phlebotomy and catheter placement skills.
Know radiology safety and proper radiographic technique.
Be proficient in post-operative monitoring and care of surgical patients.
Have a solid foundation of knowledge of common veterinary medications.
Have fluent English speaking and reading skills.

Responsibilities

Place IV catheters, draw blood, and maintain IV fluids.
Assist with surgical recovery, post-operative pain management, and patient monitoring.
Perform radiographs and assist with surgical preparation and induction.
Maintain the patient care ward and complete accurate patient documentation.
Communicate compassionately with clients and provide patient-focused care.
Assist veterinarians with the day’s duties and contribute to hospital operations.
