About The Position

PEAK Veterinary Referral Center is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our ICU. This part-time overnight Veterinary Technician position offers the opportunity to care for critically ill hospitalized patients while working at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine in a supportive specialty and emergency hospital. PEAK is a 14,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art specialty and emergency hospital providing 24/7 care. We offer referral services in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Radiology, and Behavior. We proudly serve northern New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire — and in 2021, expanded with 7-day-a-week Urgent Care to support our community even further. Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician with 3+ years of veterinary experience
  • CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred
  • Previous emergency, ICU, or specialty experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong technical nursing skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm in a fast-paced critical care environment
  • Passion for teamwork, continuous learning, and high-quality patient care
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required

Nice To Haves

  • CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred
  • Previous emergency, ICU, or specialty experience is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care for ICU, emergency, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, and urgent care patients
  • Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients while recognizing subtle changes in patient condition
  • Administer medications, calculate dosages, place intravenous catheters, manage fluid therapy, and provide nutritional support
  • Collect, prepare, and process diagnostic laboratory samples
  • Assist veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, and advanced procedures
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
  • Communicate compassionately and professionally with clients regarding hospitalized patients
  • Support inventory management for medications, equipment, and ICU supplies
  • Collaborate closely with specialists and emergency clinicians to provide exceptional patient care
