About The Position

Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group (VERG) Brooklyn is seeking licensed veterinary technicians for its Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team. This role is vital in delivering life-saving care and supporting board-certified Criticalists, emergency clinicians, and specialists. The position involves working on the front lines of veterinary medicine, supporting complex and urgent cases across various departments including Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiology, and Neurology. Responsibilities include stabilizing critical patients, performing advanced monitoring, supporting intensive care treatment plans, and ensuring seamless patient care. The role offers a flexible 3-day workweek with various shift options (8a-8p, 10a-10p, 12p-12a, or 2p-2a) to ensure comprehensive emergency coverage and provide a four-day break each week.

Requirements

  • Licensed or Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT)
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience
  • Experience in intensive monitoring
  • Experience in emergency triage
  • Experience with ventilator support
  • Experience with post-op recovery of critical patients
  • Experience placing advanced lines (e.g., central venous catheters, arterial lines for invasive blood pressure, and CVPs)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Quick-thinking
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to evolving patient needs

Nice To Haves

  • ECC or emergency experience in a specialty setting
