About The Position
As a per diem Veterinary Scribe, you will help optimize the patient care experience by creating accurate, detailed medical records that support high-quality care. You will shadow and partner with doctors, gaining firsthand experience in veterinary emergency medicine and developing documentation skills that may support a future career in the field. The role is based at a hospital and is not remote.
Requirements
- Be an undergraduate or postgraduate student interested in a future career in veterinary emergency medicine.
- Be detail-oriented and have strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Write clearly and concisely and be able to type quickly.
- Be able to stand for prolonged periods, kneel, and work on the floor.
- Be able to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
- Be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
- Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis, depending on hospital needs.
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from different backgrounds and personality types.
- Demonstrate empathy, humility, ownership, curiosity, and a commitment to learning and growth.
Responsibilities
- Compose electronic medical records.
- Submit lab work and notify the doctor when results are available.
- Assist doctors with non-clinical duties.
- Communicate effectively with every member of the medical team.
- Maintain professionalism and an exemplary work ethic.
