About The Position

Receptionist Dorset Street Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Front-Desk Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our veterinary clients, playing a crucial role in setting the tone for their visit. We are looking for a customer service professional who excels in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and is passionate about animal care. Dorset Street Animal Hospital is a brand new Urgent Care Veterinary practice in South Burlington, Vermont, dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats across the greater Burlington area. As the sister hospital to Onion River Animal Hospital in Berlin, we recently expanded our services to include walk-in urgent care, giving Vermont pet owners a trusted place to turn when their pets need prompt attention. We believe in practicing excellent medicine, supporting our team with fair and livable wages, and fostering a welcoming, stress-free environment for both pets and their families. Requirements

  • Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist or medical office assistant preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and positive demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and their pets, complete the appointment sign-in process, confirm appointment details, and escort clients to exam rooms.
  • Ensure accurate service and product sales accounting, handle payments, process credit/debit cards, and schedule future appointments.
  • Answer client calls for appointments, hospital inquiries, medication refills, and other requests.
  • Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups.
  • Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and pet behavior.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a positive client experience.
