About The Position

Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is seeking a passionate Veterinary Nurse Trainer to join their team. This role is ideal for someone energized by developing others and making a significant impact on team growth and patient care quality. It offers a unique blend of clinical and leadership responsibilities, with the majority of time spent on the floor mentoring and training staff. The trainer will also partner with hospital leadership to develop and refine training programs, standards, and content. BEVS is a 24/7 emergency and multi-specialty hospital that believes exceptional medicine is built on empowered teams and collaboration, with nurses and technicians working alongside specialists in various fields.

Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or equivalent) preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a veterinary clinical setting; emergency or specialty experience required
  • Previous experience mentoring, training, or leading peers in a clinical environment strongly preferred
  • Strong technical skills across core nursing competencies
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and support staff across all skill levels and learning styles
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • A team-first mindset with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs across departments
  • Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through direct observation and real-time floor immersion
  • Develop and refine training content including presentations, videos, simulations, and assessments
  • Implement training programs and serve as the go-to training lead for the hospital
  • Provide tailored, hands-on training that accommodates all learning styles and skill levels
  • Organize peer training opportunities and foster a strong mentoring culture
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and implement medical standards of care and update standard operating procedures as needed
  • Drive advancement through BEVS' leveling program for assistants and technicians
  • Participate in employee reviews in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Conduct regular administrative meetings with the ECC supervisor, shift leads, and Chief of Staff to discuss staff development, training initiatives, and future CE
  • Ensure all training content aligns with BEVS' culture, mission, and standards of care
  • Assist on the floor as needed
