About The Position

Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (PVESC) is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist to join their growing team in Frederick, Maryland. This role involves leading the management of critically ill hospitalized patients, receiving transfers from the ER and other services, and providing consultations to other departments. The critical care team collaborates with specialists in Neurology, Surgery, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Emergency Medicine. PVESC emphasizes a team-centered approach, providing veterinarians with the autonomy, support, and flexibility to practice excellent medicine while maintaining work-life balance. The leadership team is primarily composed of veterinarians and technicians who understand the demands of veterinary medicine and are committed to building supportive teams.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
  • Board-certification or residency-trained in Critical Care
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Maryland
  • The ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and pet families
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Clinical experience in emergency medicine or general practice, or completion of a rotating or specialty internship
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of critically ill hospitalized patients.
  • Receive transfers from the ER and other services requiring resuscitation and/or ongoing intensive care.
  • Provide consultation and support to other departments for complex cases, procedures, and challenging anesthesia.
  • Collaborate with experts across various specialty departments.
  • Contribute to colleagues across disciplines.
