About The Position

Pacific Avenue Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced, confident Veterinary Assistant to provide hands-on patient care in a fast-paced small-animal practice in Forest Grove, Oregon. The clinic has served the community since 1998 and provides care for dogs, cats, and small animals, including wellness and preventive care, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics and imaging, urgent care, and exotic pet care. Its team emphasizes compassionate medicine and low-stress handling to create a comfortable experience for pets and their families.

The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and patients through treatments, procedures, diagnostics, and hospitalized or critical-patient care. The role also contributes to patient comfort and safety, clinic organization, and customer service. Candidates should be able to stay calm and compassionate under pressure and participate in any area of the clinic as needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Confidence in IV catheter placement and jugular blood draws.
• Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
• Ability to stay calm, focused, and compassionate in high-stress situations.
• Ability to participate in any area of the clinic as needed.
• Detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Place IV catheters.
• Draw blood and assist with diagnostics.
• Provide hands-on care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Assist veterinarians during treatments and procedures.
• Support patient comfort, safety, and recovery in a fast-paced setting.
• Help maintain an efficient, organized treatment area.
• Answer phones and provide exceptional customer service.
• Participate in any area of the clinic as needed.
