Veterinary Assistant (Full and Part Time)
About The Position
Tulare Veterinary Hospital is a progressive, 2-doctor mixed animal practice located in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Our team provides high-quality care to a diverse caseload, including both small animals and dairy cattle, with a strong reputation for advanced diagnostics and compassionate treatment. While we serve a mixed animal clientele, this role is dedicated to our small animal hospital team. Requirements
- Prior experience 1 + years as a Veterinary Assistant is required.
- Strong diagnostic, technical, surgical prep, catheter placement, phlebotomy, and communication abilities.
- Must have experience monitoring anesthesia.
- A positive attitude, attention to detail, and a passion for patient care.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Must be open to rotating schedules.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with exams, treatments, and care for patients.
- Providing compassionate care and handling for patients of all sizes and temperaments.
- Supporting doctors in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and emergency procedures.
- Performing diagnostic tests, such as lab work and radiography, under supervision.
- Educating clients on basic pet care and post-treatment instructions.
- Administering medications, vaccines, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Helping to maintain a safe, clean, and organized hospital environment.
- Occasionally assisting with front desk duties as needed.
