About The Position
Chessie Lane Animal Hospital in Ottawa, Illinois is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant to join its team. The role supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care, appointments, and treatments; helps educate pet owners; and keeps patients comfortable during visits. It also includes caring for boarding animals, maintaining clean hospital areas, safely restraining patients, restocking supplies, and helping wherever needed. The position is suited to someone who is passionate about animal care, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a busy, collaborative environment. Saturday availability is required.

Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care.
- Educate pet owners and help them feel informed and confident about their pets’ care.
- Assist with appointments and treatments and keep patients comfortable during visits.
- Feed, walk, monitor, and care for boarding guests.
- Clean and maintain kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms, and the hospital.
- Safely restrain patients during examinations and procedures.
- Restock supplies and prepare rooms.
- Help the team wherever needed.
- Provide compassionate care and create a positive experience for pets and clients.
