About The Position

Modern Animal is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for its Walnut Creek clinic. The role works hand-in-hand with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide care to patients, using the assistant’s skills to the highest level. The position involves supporting appointments and medical procedures, maintaining accurate records, communicating with pet owners, and helping keep the clinic clean and running smoothly. The assistant also supports local marketing efforts when needed and helps foster a culture of continuous learning, excellence, collaboration, work/life balance, self-compassion, and a blame- and judgment-free environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Strong work ethic.
• Forward thinker who enjoys living curiously.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
• Excellent client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle and restrain pets for examinations.
• Record accurate medical records using appropriate veterinary terminology.
• Assist medical team members with appointments, x-rays, lab work, and other procedures.
• Complete lab work as needed.
• Perform radiology with an understanding of appropriate fields.
• Complete medical calculations as needed.
• Understand commonly used veterinary medications.
• Clean and maintain the clinic as needed.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians and coworkers.
• Communicate discharge instructions to owners.
• Act as a Modern Animal brand ambassador, including implementing local marketing efforts to grow the clinic membership base as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and excellence, and model Modern Animal’s cultural vision.
