Veterinary Assistant- Walnut Creek
About The Position
Modern Animal is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for its Walnut Creek clinic. The role works hand-in-hand with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide care to patients. The Veterinary Assistant uses their skills to support appointments and procedures, complete medical records and laboratory work, and communicate with pet owners. The role also includes clinic upkeep, collaboration with coworkers, and representing the Modern Animal brand through local marketing efforts as needed. Team members are expected to contribute to a culture of continuous learning, excellence, work/life balance, self-compassion, and a blame- and judgment-free workplace.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Strong work ethic.
- Forward thinker who enjoys living curiously.
- Ability to collaborate as a team player.
- Excellent client communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Handle and restrain pets for examinations.
- Record accurate medical records using appropriate veterinary terminology.
- Assist medical team members with appointments, x-rays, laboratory work, and other procedures.
- Complete laboratory work as needed.
- Perform radiology with an understanding of appropriate fields.
- Complete medical calculations as needed.
- Understand commonly used veterinary medications.
- Clean and maintain the clinic as needed.
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and coworkers.
- Communicate discharge instructions to owners.
- Act as a Modern Animal brand ambassador, including implementing local marketing efforts to grow the clinic membership base as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.
- Contribute to continuous learning, improvement, and excellence.
- Model the Modern Animal cultural vision by encouraging work/life balance, self-compassion, and a blame- and judgment-free work environment.
