About The Position

Garden State Veterinary Services in Woodbridge, NJ is excited to announce we are hiring veterinary assistants to join our Surgery Department! This role involves working alongside technicians and specialists, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to provide the best possible care for patients. The position requires a commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community, along with a positive outlook and a friendly, team-oriented attitude. The ability to deliver exceptional client service, honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun are essential. This role is part of the Emergency department and requires an alternative schedule.

Requirements

2 year experience in animal related field
Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment
Ability to work an alternative schedule given the nature of the Emergency department
Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
Positive outlook and friendly, team-orientated attitude
Excellent communication and organizational skills
The ability to deliver exceptional client service
Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun!
Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English

Nice To Haves

Additional fluency in other languages is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Help keep the hospital stocked, clean and organized
Run many different diagnostics in our laboratory
Assist doctors and staff with safely restraining animals of different sizes and breeds
Room clients and obtain a medical history
Walk dogs
Obtain vitals
Place IVC and obtain blood samples
Run laboratory tests
Provide SQ Fluids and medications to patients with oversight
Triage patients
Calculate and administer medications
