About The Position

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Veterinary Assistant for an overnight shift. This role involves providing nursing care to patients, administering medications, performing phlebotomy, conducting physical exams, and assisting with anesthesia monitoring. The position requires staying current on CPR guidelines and demonstrating proficiency in assigned roles. Skylos Sports Medicine is an orthopedic and rehabilitation specialty practice dedicated to providing high-level care.

Requirements

• Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
