About The Position

Best Friends Animal Clinic is seeking a full- or part-time team member to be trained in combined veterinary assistant and reception duties. The clinic is a small animal practice in Marshall, Virginia, off Route 66. Its goal is to provide excellent service with an emphasis on personalized patient care, client education, and a quiet, calm environment for patients. The role requires someone friendly, compassionate, mature, professional, dependable, self-motivated, quick to learn, and able to multitask and work unsupervised once trained.

Nice To Haves

• Previous veterinary assistant experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Avimark is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the doctor with patient care for outpatient and in-clinic or surgery patients.
• Restrain patients and provide nursing care.
• Take radiographs.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia.
• Fill and dispense medications accurately.
• Perform reception duties, including answering phones and checking clients in and out.
• Process payments.
• Run in-house laboratory work and prepare samples for outside laboratories.
• Perform general housekeeping and laundry.
