About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring veterinarians to provide in-home hospice and euthanasia care in Des Moines, Beaverdale, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and surrounding communities. The privately and family-owned organization emphasizes professional independence, compassionate end-of-life medicine, and support from a team that coordinates appointments, families, and aftercare. Hospice experience is not required; onboarding and support are provided as veterinarians transition into this field. The role is offered in 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-day schedules, including full-time, part-time, and self-managed flexible scheduling opportunities. Compensation is prorated for agreed-upon schedules; 4-day positions start at $90,000 annually and 5-day positions offer a $125,000 annual base salary, with additional quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities. Benefits vary by position and eligibility.
Requirements
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Active veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Valid driver's license.
- Compassion and commitment to exceptional end-of-life care.
- Availability consistent with the position's schedule, including some weekends.
