CityVet is now accepting applications for its Veterinarian Externship Program, offering third- and fourth-year DVM students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a veterinarian-led practice environment. This program is designed for students seeking meaningful mentorship, real-world clinical exposure, and insight into practice models centered on autonomy, collaboration, and long-term career growth. CityVet externships provide a structured yet flexible clinical experience in small animal general practice settings, with many locations also offering urgent care exposure. Externs work alongside experienced veterinary teams and receive hands-on exposure that may include small animal general practice medicine and surgery, client communication and case management, collaboration with technicians and support staff, exposure to clinic operations and team leadership, and mentorship from practicing veterinarians. Externships are customizable whenever possible, allowing students to align their experience with individual clinical interests and career goals. CityVet is a veterinarian-founded, led, and owned organization focused on supporting veterinarians through clinical autonomy, personalized mentorship, and collaborative practice environments. Each clinic is locally led by a veterinarian and supported by a centralized home office team, allowing doctors to focus on patient care while maintaining independence in how they practice medicine. This externship is well-suited for students who are seeking hands-on clinical experience in a supportive practice setting, value mentorship and professional development, are exploring potential post-graduate employment or a long-term career fit, and want exposure to a veterinarian-led practice model.
