About The Position

Boughton Square Animal Clinic is offering a veterinarian externship at its full-service general practice in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The externship is designed for DVM students who have completed their first year and are currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program. Students interested in general practice, community-focused medicine, or spectrum-of-care approaches are encouraged to apply. Externs work one-on-one with experienced veterinarians, set learning goals based on their interests and career plans, discuss real cases and treatment options, and learn the reasoning behind clinical decisions. They participate in daily patient care and gain exposure to care ranging from gold-standard diagnostics and treatment plans to practical alternatives that take clients’ circumstances and patient quality of life into account. The clinic offers a welcoming, team-oriented environment emphasizing communication, honesty, ethics, and client relationships without compromising patient welfare. The experience is customized to academic requirements and personal learning goals, including interests in general practice, client communication, surgery, and clinical decision-making. Eligible expenses may be reimbursed up to $600 per week.

Requirements

Must have completed the first year of a DVM program.
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program.
