About The Position

Morganside Veterinary Clinic offers DVM students an externship focused on meaningful learning, professional growth, and building confidence in veterinary practice. Students work one-on-one with experienced veterinarians, discuss real cases and treatment options, and learn the reasoning behind clinical decisions.

Externs participate in daily patient care and learn to practice across a spectrum of care, from gold-standard diagnostics and treatment plans to practical alternatives that account for client circumstances and patient quality of life. The clinic provides a welcoming, team-oriented environment that values communication, honesty, ethics, and patient welfare. The experience is customized to academic requirements and individual learning goals, which may include general practice, client communication, surgery, or clinical decision-making.

The externship is based in Sparta, Wisconsin, in the Driftless Region, with access to nearby cities and outdoor recreation. Students may be eligible for reimbursement of eligible expenses, up to $600 per week.

Requirements

• Must be a DVM student who has completed the first year of veterinary school.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary medicine program.
