Bay West is seeking a qualified UXO III to support explosive safety and munitions response operations. This position is contingent upon contract award and is expected to be based in Hawthorne, Nevada. Requirements

  • Graduate of a qualified Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school with at least eight years combined military and commercial UXO experience. As an exception, a UXO TIII may be a graduate of a qualified UXO school and have at least eight years commercial UXO experience, as required by DDESB TP18.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training, 8-hour OSHA Supervisor training

Responsibilities

  • Ability to handle in a safe manner the vehicle assigned to drive within and in the vicinity of the site
  • On-the-job training including, but not limited to, familiarity with the process, procedures, and equipment used for conducting MEC-related activities
  • Supervise and perform the on-site demilitarization of munitions of explosive concern (MEC), and handling of demolition materials
  • Inspect and certify and/or verify Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards
  • Willingness to work overtime, variable schedules, and/or rotating shifts as required
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and capable of operating standard office equipment
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information in both routine and emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a safety-critical environment
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety footwear, gloves, and eye protection, and work in compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform essential job functions, including participation in drills, contingency operations, and emergency response activities
