About The Position

This position is contingent upon contract award and is expected to be based in Hawthorne, Nevada. As an Equipment Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical machinery and systems that support munitions and facility operations.

Requirements

  • Active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable NCIC III background check.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience as an Equipment Mechanic or related experience. A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Must have the mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machinery, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Must be able to identify and use a wide variety of tools and machinery.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal and literate in common software applications.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
  • Be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in machinery and equipment, including compressors, paint booths, drill and hydraulic presses, bolt drivers, conveyor systems, grit blasting equipment, and pneumatic power systems.
  • Support production and facility operations by installing new machinery, relocating existing equipment, and realigning machine beds.
  • Diagnose issues and repair or replace components such as wheels, shafting, bearings, and related parts.
  • Adjust clearances, belt drives, and other mechanical components to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment overhauls, and general repair work.
  • Align and realign gears as required.
  • Install tools and fixtures on ordinance equipment.
  • Operate shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, milling machines, and pedestal grinders to fabricate simple replacement parts, as needed.
  • Perform minor AC/DC and oxy-acetylene welding when required.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a strong commitment to personal and team safety.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable environmental permits and regulations.
  • Work overtime as required to meet operational needs.
  • Maintain regular attendance and reliability.
