The Utility Water Meter Installer works as part of UMS’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Meter Installation Team, installing, replacing, testing, and removing water, electric, and gas meters and associated equipment. The role involves working at one project at a time and may require reassignment to another job site within the continental United States when a project is completed or changes status. Work is performed outdoors in varied environments and inclement weather, often with minimal supervision. UMS provides on-the-job training. Compensation starts at a minimum of $15 per hour on any project or location, with a production-based incentive tied to the number of meters and ancillary items properly installed. The position follows a Monday–Friday workweek, with possible weekends, and pays weekly. Employees become eligible for the company’s benefits program after 30 days of service.
