About The Position

The Meter Reader collects meter information and helps maintain positive working relationships with customers. The role manages field meter data collection for multiple customers, supports utility-billing problem resolution and new account creation, and identifies abnormal metering situations for the Energy Management team. It also supports business administration and related maintenance work, including GIS work on water and wastewater infrastructure. The position may involve riding on a garbage truck when needed and participating in an on-call rotation with maintenance staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good PC and Microsoft Office skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to review materials for accuracy.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional service to account relationships and build customer relationships.
• Gather and consolidate data from varied sources.
• Manage field meter data collection for multiple customers on a daily and monthly basis.
• Support field inquiries and help resolve customer utility-billing issues.
• Coordinate and assist with field information for new customer account creation.
• Research and identify field procedures for authorizing access to customer meter locations and utility information.
• Identify abnormal metering situations and advise the Energy Management team.
• Support business administration, including accounting, reporting, the sales process, data entry, backup phone support, and general administration.
• Help with related maintenance work when necessary.
• Perform GIS work on new and existing water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Assist with riding the garbage truck when needed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with maintenance staff.
