About The Position

The Utility Technician - Driver operates mobile equipment in a heavy industrial environment and supports various producing units. The role requires passing a digital assessment test and a hands-on mobile equipment test. Work takes place in various areas of the mill, where environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy. The technician may work in close proximity to molten metal and handle materials that are hot, heavy, sharp, or involve hazardous chemicals. The position requires rotating 8-hour shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, with overtime as needed. Safety protection must be worn in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Pass a digital assessment test and hands-on mobile equipment test.
• Ability to perform manual labor and lift in excess of 25 lbs.
• Ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Adherence to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction.
• Wear required safety protection, including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, boots with metatarsal protection, and respirator equipment when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment, including overhead and mobile cranes of various sizes and types, tractors, trucks, dozers, loaders, boom trucks, and feeders.
• Perform tasks supporting various producing units using basic hand tools, pneumatic equipment, gauges, and power-actuated tools.
• Handle, transport, and process products and materials.
• Assist with inspecting and performing maintenance on equipment.
• Perform manual labor and lift in excess of 25 lbs.
• Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Maintain punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction.
