About The Position
The Utility Operator controls and shades cameras during events at Crypto.com Arena. The position supports camera operators by preparing camera connections and cable runs, assisting with handheld camera movement during events, helping ensure the camera operator’s safety, and making supply runs to the control room when needed. The role requires lifting and carrying a handheld camera weighing up to 30 pounds, and spending the shift on one’s feet or seated, with the ability to stand and move quickly when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of related work experience.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, sit, and move quickly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to focus on the job in front of a very large crowd.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds while sitting or standing.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to perform a proper “over/under” cable wrap.
Responsibilities
- Work with camera operators to prepare camera connections and operate the Camera Control Unit (CCU).
- Connect cameras to assigned media-panel ports and run camera cables to camera locations.
- Tape cable runs to the ground with non-stick gaffer’s tape where they pose a trip hazard.
- Support handheld camera movement during games by organizing and feeding out extra cable, then wrapping it neatly as the camera operator moves.
- Guide and help protect camera operators from hazards on their blind side and behind them.
- Make supply runs to the control room for items such as fresh batteries, tape, or a replacement headset.
- Lift and/or carry a handheld camera weighing up to 30 pounds.
