Utility Operator I
About The Position
The Utility Operator I is assigned to operate a water truck and sweeper and participates in a structured development program intended to progress to Utility Operator II and III responsibilities. Advancement depends on successful completion of required training, demonstrated proficiency, performance, and business needs. The position is primarily assigned to the evening shift, though schedules and hours may change to meet operational and business requirements. The employee reports to a supervisor and has no direction-exercise responsibilities. Materials handled may include Metalac products, scrap, supplies, dirt, and trash. Other duties and special assignments may be required.
Responsibilities
- Follow standard operating procedures.
- Observe safety rules and regulations and motivate others to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support department production through flexible assignments as needed.
- Perform duties of the position or positions to which assigned.
- Clean and operate machinery as required and maintain orderly work areas.
- Operate and lubricate moving parts on mobile equipment and refuel mobile equipment.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement, problem solving, and teamwork.
- Support and assist all levels of management in achieving organizational goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties and complete special assignments as required by supervision.
