About The Position

USIC is hiring an outdoor field technician to locate underground utilities and help prevent damage to critical infrastructure. Technicians work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle and technology, providing clear and complete mark-out services for excavators and property owners. No prior locating experience is needed; experienced locators are also encouraged to apply. The role includes a training program and opportunities for advancement. This is a daytime, full-time position based in Amarillo, Texas. Many locates have a 48-hour turnaround, so technicians generally work the day after holidays and some weekends as needed. Overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts—including nights and weekends—may be required depending on business needs.

Requirements

Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Proficiency with technology.
Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
Able to pass a drug screen; this is a safety-sensitive position.
Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Able to work in a confined space, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Nice To Haves

Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
Prior utility locating experience; experienced locators are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities.
Search designated areas for underground utilities, accurately mark their locations, complete required documentation, and photograph each locate.
