About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate and document underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and performs utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. Locators use advanced technology and established methods to provide accurate, reliable results.

This is a full-time employee role for a self-motivated professional who can work independently in an assigned territory. The position requires work in all weather conditions, maintaining company equipment and vehicles, communicating with excavators, property owners, and team members, and participating in an on-call rotation. The role may involve travel and overtime, with flexible schedules.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Team-oriented approach and strong character.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Mark utilities accurately with paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
